Day 56 - 8/20/24 - Last day
Like all good things, today we ended our 8 week journey. We awoke at 7am and took Kona for a walk. We noticed her tail is unhappy and she is suffering a bit from swimmers tail. Thankfully I have some dog ibuprofen aboard and with some rest she will be better soon.
We battened down the boat before we left our protected anchorage as we have been foolish enough before to leave the break water and be hit by huge seas.
The crossing was calm and we had a lovely all day sail with some swells. The day carried from 7 hours to cross to 10 hours and we abandoned our plans to go to Egg Harbor not wanting to get in at 9:30 and miss pizza at our favorite place.
Three bridges later we were welcomed back at our home marina by friends who are up here mid week.
We took Kona for a walk and then got in our car for some pizza in Egg Harbor, ending our trip where we began it 8 weeks ago.
It feels strange to be back in our home waters. We feel changed but question if we changed or if we just became.
To all of you who followed along and sent love along the way I appreciate you so much. Our adventure is over but only set the stage for a life we wish to live. Where the troubles of life are on land, and there are no ships better than friendships.
