Day 27 - Chore day

My what a big burrito

My what a big burrito you have!

We really let ourselves sleep in. Even with going to bed early! We heard the winds pick up last night but I noted that I could feel the difference in the protection this marina offers verses our last marina.  It rained all night.  The temps were good. It was perfect.  When we finally pulled ourselves out of bed at 9am (yep, about 12 hours!)  to take Kona to shore we both noticed our boat was sitting considerably higher (about 8 inches) in the water.  I’ll have to research it but I was unaware Lake Michigan could have seiches.  We walked Kona to the boater’s lounge and chilled there.  Captain ordered a new hose as I broke yet another expandable one. They aren’t sturdy, but we need a small one for storage reason. Sigh. We spent the morning doing chores. The laundry, the freezer defrost ritual, adding fresh water to the tank.  We made new spaces by taking off things or moving them around. We will be bringing back two more passengers when I log next and their bunks need to be free with lockers.  I’m glad Captain and I were able to spend a little of this odd week enjoying the UP as well as sailing and spending a night at anchor. It feels very short to have had only four nights on her on this go around, but that is how the logistics fell this year!  Next week will be a little longer and then we are off on the full summer adventure!

Not a lot of photos again today. As I work through the boat doing chores I think I should be taking photos of all the ins and outs of our unique boat and our challenges. That means stopping and documenting in the middle of a different mindset. I am not sure how influencers do it! I will add it to my goals for the 8 weeks.

The next two nights will be at home again and a little lapse in log entries. Stay tuned!
