Dancing on a perfect summer evening

Another day to sleep in. Yay!  We got Cory up with the call of shore coffee and we all headed to town late morning.  It has been nice and cool at night and the sleeping has been truly wonderful.  We walked to the beach with our coffee’s and spent a few hours playing with Kona.  Lord that girl had the time of her life. We let her do pier jumps for about half an hour and then we walked the beach.  Being Monday, there were considerably less folks around.  Kona got to play ball in the big water and tons of Frisbee.  I am still amazed how dog friendly the town is.  Most folks who have their dogs here have them off leash. Everyone is pretty cool and responsible with them and the dog’s rule.  Dog dishes everywhere, pup cups at the coffee shop and admires wanting to pet or even play with your dog.

Jed, from the film the night before, wanted to see our boat so we headed back to Ciara around 2:30.  Cory sat ashore and helped pirate some shore power and managed some loads of laundry while I cleaned up the boat quickly.  Everyone was on their last bit of underwear and desperate. I chuckled my evil laugh because “Ha! I overpack!” and was doing okay on the laundry front.  We all end up wearing the same outfits a few days in a row regardless, I just have more outfits.  Can a girl really only pick out three for an entire summer????  We gave Jed a tour and chatted for awhile with him before it was time to make dinner.  Cory and Captain made stir fry with fresh vegetables and “Uncle Rogers” fried rice.  The boat smelled amazing. Dinner was delicious.  We are enjoying having a full-size grocery store nearby and are looking forward to some of the luxuries of home now that it is upon us so soon.  Mmmm, home cooked meals we haven’t had all summer….

Jed had told us that there was a band playing at the band shell right on shore near us at 7pm.  He, his wife, and a bunch of their friends were going and invited us to join. We got there a little late because dinner took awhile (I still have a ton of dishes to do) but he greeted us at the shore when we pulled up.  Everyone was really nice and happy to meet the people on the pretty boat that sat in the background of the concert.  Turns out the group friends dance for fun/hobby. Not the kind of dancing I know where we just bop around and hope no one is looking. I sat in wonderment listening to the music and watching them dance.  Jed asked me to dance!  Holy crap. That would be a hard no after watching them. I played the “my knee is bad” card.  Then a slower song came on and he asked again and said he won’t go hard on me.  Sir, do you have any idea??? There are ton’s of folks around….and this is like me playing jazz….I don’t know how!  Well, he got me up to dance.  Guys….I felt like Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady! I could have danced all night!  I have never danced with someone who knows how to dance. He started off easy and with quiet instructions or just the slightest touch and before I knew it we were twirling and in step with each other and having the time of my life. I feel like I looked like a doofus, but it was magical and so much fun! Captain has been saying he wants to learn to dance and if that is dancing I ready to go every weekend!  We spent the rest of the concert enjoying the music, the dancing of others and kids running down the hill to the ice cream truck. A perfect summer evening with a pastel sunset.  Good people, good music and much happiness.  Really tried to soak up every minute of the concert. We bought their vinyl record. Something for Captain and I to dance to when we get home.

The concert finished around 8:30 and Cory was having an ice cream craving so we headed to the other shore to get some treats (I passed) and walk to the beach to watch the fisherman come in under a blanket of starts.  What a wonderful day, what we have come to expect from Frankfort. I wish time could stand still right now. I would stay here two weeks and still feel like it wasn’t enough.
