Day 45 - 8/9/24

Beautiful morning on Mackinac Island. The kids managed to spilled virgin piña colada on Kona so I took her for a swim as she was a sticky dog. Richard and I met with the manager at the Mackinac Island Yacht club as we had met his girlfriend on the walk and she said he really loved chatting with folks who have been to the North Channel. Nice guy. Gave us an open invite to stay on his mooring at Mackinac or Les Chaneauex’s where he as a cute glamong set up in government bay.

We had to be out of the marina at 11am and were on our way by 10:30. Less then an hour later and large chop we were safely back in St. Ignace. We all

Got right to work getting the boat cleaned out and ship shape. Then we were able to relax until my cousin Parker and his girlfriend showed up around 5:30.

When we drove home a month ago to pick up my kids we found out that our drip car was small (when packed full of provisions and kids and dog) and the air conditioning was spotty. It was Ilan uncomfortable 6 hour trip each way and pretty miserable for Kona girl. I had this lovely idea to ask Parker if he’d like a kino vacation with Raven to see his favorite cousin (Kona) and stay on our boat and tour Mackinac Island. To my joy they didn’t hesitate!

We took them out for dinner and celebrated the end of the cruise for the kids. We hung out and fished from the docks and enjoyed some good rum.

The kids have done so well on this trip. Honestly they always have and it is apparent they have grown up sailing. They all grew in their skill sets. They made us laugh with their jokes and we will miss them for the last part of this trip. However, we greatly look forward to the boat feeling very spacious and having time alone together after 6.5 weeks while we sail Ciara back to our home port.
