Days 46 and 47 - 8/10 - 8/11/24
We were up and on the road by 7am on Saturday to take the kids home. Kona was not upset at all as we let her, Parker and Raven sleep in. We spent the day at home doing laundry, paying bills and having a lovely dinner with our family dinner crew all while Kona was spoiled rotten.
Sunday Richard and I were back on the road and arrived back in St. Ignace mid afternoon where we treated ourselves to some Pasties. We got the boat all settled and then took a lovely evening stroll along the lake near the marina. We lit some lanterns and enjoyed some cheese and crackers while toasting to our journey so far and looking forward to the last leg with just the two of us.
I had been alerted by the Aurora groups and my Aurora app that there was a good chance of seeing them (the best forecast I have ever seen AND being in a good location). We left to drive north of town just a bit to get rid of what little city lights we had.
I found a cute beach at the end of a dead end road. It was just about 10:45. Met a family who was trying to haul a 400 pound rock off the beach as they were certain it was an upper light (it was not). We had fun watching and hanging out with them and they stayed to see if the lights would appear. Around 11:30 they started to be naked to the visible eye and then the next two hours flew by as we were treated to the show of a life time. I will post separately for that. 8/11 marks our 7th year of owning Ciara. Happy gotcha day to the most special boat, even the heavens rejoiced!
And so, we begin the last leg of our summer adventure, together, free and completely on a high from last night.
