My what a big sheet you have!
I just want to go sailing!
The countdown to May 21st is getting here way faster then we anticipated. We keep finding more and more projects and I remember that this is often the case. There will always be something to be done with the boat. It is always so nice, though, in the spring to put her in and see how cleaned up she is and all the new repairs.
The weather was beautiful yesterday so Richard rolled out our Jib to do minor repairs. This is our smaller sail. It takes up the entire front yard. Quite the sight to drive by and see a bearded man using a sewing machine on the front yard. People thought it was a large tent. I don't think they fully understand the size of the boat and have never really seen a sail like that on the ground. Fun to watch everyone's heads turn though!
I ran a bunch of errands yesterday. Including picking up new calling cards for Ciara Madeline. We think they turned out well and we look forward to handing them out all summer.
Other then that, tensions are a little high. Our winter storage shipyard is giving us (and everyone else) a really hard time. There are rumors they aren't even taking sailboats next summer as us "darn rag baggers never spend money on service." But even with those worries, they are reportedly three weeks behind getting boats in the water. We are in the very back of the shed and we need to get in there a week before to varnish the mast. If we don't get that done next week, our put in date will more then likely get pushed back past May 21st and therefore just delay the month Captain and I had planned on the water.
So the next week is business as usual. We have family plans for Mother's day and I look forward to some fresh air with Kona and the kids and dinner with my folks. I will be packing and cleaning all week as I *think* the majority of my logistic work is done. It's really hard to imagine that in 10 days we will be sleeping on Ciara, playing with Kona, enjoying nature and unwinding.
