Day 81 - Windy!
The winds sure did pick up. By the time we woke up the ship was rocking bow to stern pretty well. I had to do my usual go around the boat and dampen the rhythmic clings and clangs. Evelyn wanted fancy coffee and breakfast out again so we indulged that and went back to the Big Easy for breakfast. I got to meet a 10 week old golden puppy at breakfast while Kona just had to be degraded to my usual antics of making her a reverse dalmatian.
We had a lazy morning on board. Evelyn was leaving around noon and they were just settling into the quietness and relaxation that the boat offers (and they were seeking). We all just relaxed and let them enjoy before we carted them back to shore and said our good-byes. It was a quick visit and Captain and I were sad to see them leave. It’s hard to remember being that young and having to carve out every minute of down peace and quiet. It’s hard to realize that we have been out so much this summer that we have been about to achieve that very thing for ourselves.
I’d like to say we did a lot more today, but not really. The winds are pretty high and coming for the worst direction for this anchorage so we are hesitant to go to far from Ciara so we can manager her if needed. We enjoyed the day on board doing pretty much nothing. I haven’t figured out what book I want to read next so we spent a lot of time just sitting on deck watching the waves come in and trying to not fall over while walking on board.
We did make nice steak tacos for dinner and after our final walk for the evening we decided that after three months we would finally try and watch a movie on our projector. This time I had all the parts needed to make it work! I was able to set the system up in our V-Berth and it was really cool to watch the movie as we cuddled. Of course we watched Captain Ron. It was a bit funny/tummy turning to be watching a movie that had sailing going on all while our own boat was moving back and forth.
And the wind is going to really be howling Sunday through Monday. There is even a chance of water spouts on the Great Lakes in this time. I had hoped to be back at our home port Monday, but now it is looking like we will leave Egg Harbor early on Tuesday and still hope to be home by Tuesday evening. Thankful there isn’t a hard deadline to get home so we can go safely and not push. Captain and I are soaking up every last minute of this adventure, not ready for it to end.
