Care for Ciara and Crew
We awoke to early morning light rain. We all just laid in bed for a while before we got moving. Jeannine needed to head home so we packed her gear in the dinghy with Kona for our morning walk. We said our goodbyes ashore. She had a great time and had decided to do some more boat shopping on the way home.
The weather cleared almost as soon as Jeannie’s car was out of sight. The sun was out, and it was extremely calm in the anchorage. We decided to fly the drone while Kona played ball off the boat and got some great footage. Kona had a great time and was loving being a movie star. I wrote in my blog and we snacked ourselves through breakfast and the day, keeping it simple.
By early afternoon we both headed the boat nap which was super nice. I awoke wanting to get the boat in order and ended up fully engaged in some chores. I cleaned up our pilot house shelves and gave them new anti-slip mats while cleaning out odds and ends. Captain went up deck and worked on a hatch that is still leaking. We have lots of rain expected Wednesday and we are trying to get ahead. By the end of the afternoon Ciara was looking really nice. We are just thrilled to see all our hard work and projects working and in action.
I asked Captain what he wanted for dinner and he said he wanted to go to the grocery store and get some nice steaks for us so that is what we did. He also picked up some stuffed mushrooms which I was shocked because mushrooms are one of his avoidance foods. Back onboard we added some of our Freeze-Dried mashed potatoes for a magnificent meal complete with oil lantern lighting and Chuck Mangione. Wow, that man can cook! He even really liked the stuffed mushroom!
I was wrapping up dishes when the sun was setting. It was an absolute stunning one at that, followed by Taps.
We are a little behind on our battery management. Our new fridge is, of course, drawing more then what we are used to. We still have tons of power and have yet to have to turn our engine on to create power. Nonetheless, we couldn’t pass up a chance to pirate some shore power so we gathered our two smaller lithium power packs and took them to shore for Kona’s night walk. We plugged them in at the marina and then walked to One Barrell. Captain wanted to go sit by the fire and socialize while we charged our batteries. We met a large family at the fire pit and the brewery was so kind to keep the fire burning for us well past closing.
By the time we got back to the dinghy the batteries were fully charged and our internal batteries were dead so we secured the boat for the night and fell asleep fast.
