Day 10 - 7/5/24

We had until noon to return Cory’s rental bike this morning so we woke them and told them to get up with us to land to go exploring. We all got some coffee and then Richard and I went exploring on foot with Kona while Cory adventured off. We found a lovely little trail that led us to the north shore of the island. We got a lovely view of Garden Island and a cute beach. Nice little feature of a sand bar peninsula created converging seas and triangle waves.

The sun finally broke out around noon and we decided to sail to Garden Island for the night. We had a short sail there but it was super sporty and fast.

We have been to Garden Island just once before last year and only had stopped for lunch. This was our first time dropping anchor in a place as remote as here. Garden island is uninhabited and mostly full of poison ivy and snakes. But the water is beautiful and the solitude is what we were seeking. There is one other boat anchored here. They were flying a courtesy flag from Belgium and I knew why as soon as we chatted with them as she was from there. Super nice people that we invited over to Ciara for pre dinner snacks. We gave them a sample freeze dried yogurt and ice cream and we delighted watching their faces absolutely delighted at how good and fun it was. They in returned grabbed a great photo of us on our dingy:) Finished with Taco Tuesday (but on a Friday) at sunset.
