Day 11 - 7/6/24

After we had our sponge baths and did laundry we pulled up anchor and made the very short motor to Ojibwa island (formally Squaw and still called that by locals). We had be invited to go by the islands owner so we felt this was good enough reason! I hope he got a good deal on the island. It’s beautiful, it’s remote, it’s nearly impossible to access on anything but a good calm day, but it came with a lighthouse! A very sturdy but abandoned and in rough shape light house. Cory and I went ashore first while Richard stayed with the boat as we weren’t sure we had the best holding. We explored our way to the house with Kona finding the largest Indian toilet paper plants I have ever seen. Once inside we signed the guest book and explored the entire building by flashlight. The best part of course was the view from top. Richard would go back with Cory after our return.

We headed back to Garden Island for the night in a different anchorage. After dinner I asked Richard to take Kona to shore while we did dishes before dark and he came back all excited that he found a fire pit. So we all went and had our own fire on our own small island under the most brilliant stars. I sang campfire songs and tried so hard to capture the stars. It was a truly magically day.
