Day 49 - 8/13/24

We awoke to something we haven’t seen in a long time. Fog. We decided we really wanted to check out Petoskey State Park before we left so we hauled anchor and went the 2 miles to the park. Blowing the horn every two minutes it was surreal.

Kona enjoyed her extended off leash time as Richard and combed the beach for Petoskey stones. We found a few, as well as many Charlevoix stones and my first pudding stone!

Around noon we needed to get going to we hauled anchor one more time and headed out for a 9’hoir motor to Glen Arbor right behind sleeping bears dunes. Another calm night allowed us to take such an exposed anchorages but it worked perfectly.

We enjoyed sailing through the golden hour and dropped anchor just after sunset. We took Kona for a walk and saw that there wasn’t much of a tourist town here but it was nice nonetheless.

Saw some faint northern lights and called it a night after a night cap and just the peace and quiet. We joked that we had expected isolation in the North Channel but had to come to the west coast of MI to be alone as this was our second night in a row being the only boat in the anchorage.
